The Countryside Council for Wales is eager for everyone interested in water related activities to comment on three newly drafted codes of conduct on angling, wild swimming and canoeing.

Start of consultation : March 1st 2012
End of consultation: June 1st 2012

Background

The Codes were drafted by CCW, in our capacity as advisers to the Welsh Government and in partnership with small working groups which involved user groups, landowners and others with expertise to contribute.

The Codes are designed to advise people using Wales’s inland water on how to enjoy their activities without damaging the resource they are using, or disturbing the communities around them. These Codes are more detailed activity specific follow-ups to the more general Waterside Code, launched at the Royal Welsh Show last year.

The Consultation

The consultation period will be for 12 weeks, from the 1st of March to the 1st of June 2012. It’s open to anyone who wants to comment. The responses will be collated and presented to the working groups to guide the drafting of the final codes.

We would welcome your feedback. If you have any comments about content or structure please let us know by filling in the Response Form then Email it to cdwc@ccw.gov.uk by the 1st of June 2012.

Family of codes approach

The angling, wild swimming and canoeing draft codes will join the Waterside Code and the Countryside Code as a family of codes of conduct.

Each code has been designed to provide the guidance needed for each target audience in a form that suits them. Further codes or site specific guides may be created under the same umbrella.
