Pilot project tests ways to breathe new life into Newboroughs sand dune system

Newborough Warren is one of Wales’ finest sand dune systems. But after years of becoming over-stabilized and overgrown by vegetation, with some rare plants and insects driven to the brink of extinction, a pilot project is now testing ways to rejuvenate the sand dunes.

Mid Wales Cultural Centre Becomes Wales Newest National Nature Reserve

Celebrations are to take place at Gregynog near Newtown, as it becomes Wales’ newest National Nature Reserve (NNR). The Reserve will be designated by the Countryside Council for Wales in a special event on Wednesday 6 March 2013 (11.00a.m.).
