Rob Owen
Head of Access Recreation and Communication (ARC). CCW
What I do: My job revolves around encouraging more people to
enjoy Wales’s natural heritage. ARC’s work covers a wide range of
functions – improving opportunities for recreastion and promoting
more awareness about the value of our countryside and how to enjoy
it.
History and interests: I joined CCW in 1193. Prior to that I
graduated as a Twon Planner and worked for 10 years as a
coastal/countryside officer for Ynys Mon Borough Council. My first
CCW job was as Senior Recreation Policy Officer, I then became Head
of (what was then) the Landscape and Interpretation Group, before
‘escaping’ to Brussels for two and a half years. The Brussels
experience was great – though very challenging. I came back to CCW
in 2002 as Head of External Relations and this role was ‘enhance’
when the form Recreation and Access Group was amalgamated with
external Relations (and external funding) to form the ARC
Group.
