Pontsticill Reservoir

Pontsticill is a large reservoir set in the wooded valley of Taf Fechan in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Visitors and walkers can also enjoy the peace and quiet
of the reservoir and the wildlife it sustains.

Welsh Water owns 81 reservoirs in Wales. Some of them are used for club based water activities such as kayaking, canoeing and sailing which can give club members an opportunity to get out on the water. They are located in some of the most breathtaking and stunning countryside in Wales.

Access information:

Sailing and Windsurfing is managed through the sailing club, all other access is currently managed directly by DCWW


This reservoir has a car park. Public toilets and refreshments can be found in Pontsticill and Merthyr Tydfil.

Welsh Water employs rangers at approximately 10 of its most visited reservoirs. They are there to facilitate and promote legitimate access for the public wishing to enjoy the amenity of the reservoirs. Under no circumstances can Welsh Water be held liable for the safety of visitors who disregard the company's safety advice.
