Urban and rural SSSIs
Although many SSSIs are in rural or remote
areas, this is not always the case.
253 or nearly one quarter of all SSSIs can be
reached within 1km of a town or city, making them accessible to the
majority of the population.
To find an SSSI near your home go to the
Protected
Sites and Landscapes Map. Please note that not all SSSI are
open to the public. Please consult the access section for more
information.
