The site is an excellent example of
species-rich fen meadow, with associated purple moor-grass and rush
pasture as well as species-rich neutral grassland in the drier
areas. Additional interest is provided by the presence of acid
grassland and wet heath on poorer soils. These grasslands together
support a wide variety of plants including several uncommon
and declining species.
