Internationally important SSSI’s
Many SSSIs in Wales are home to
internationally important habitats, species and geological
features.
In recognition of this, such sites have additional international
designations. Many of these international sites are made up of
several SSSIs, for example, Anglesey and Llyn Fens Ramsar site is
made up of 5 SSSIs; Cors Erddreiniog, Cors Goch, Cors y Farl, Cors
Bodeilio and Cors Geirch.
Some sites have more than one international designation, for
example, Dyfi SSSI is a SAC, SPA, Ramsar and Biosphere Reserve.

N.B. Significant areas of the sea around Wales have been
designated as SAC's and SPA's, but these sites are not underpinned
by SSSI's and are therefore not shown on this or the following
maps.
